Patria managed a voluntary buy-out offer for shares of Fortuna

12/04/2018

Patria Corporate Finance, a.s. together with its sister company Patria Finance, a.s. advised the investment group Penta on the implementation of a voluntary buy-out offer for shares of Fortuna Entertainment Group N.V. (“Fortuna”) on the Czech market.

Fortuna Entertainment Group N.V.

Fortuna was founded in 1990 as an original Czech company. Subsequently it began to expand its activities to neighbouring countries, particularly to Slovakia and Poland. In 2009, all its activities in the Czech Republic and in neighbouring countries were incorporated into the newly established entity Fortuna Entertainment Group N.V., making Fortuna the largest betting provider in Central Europe. The recent entry into the Croatian and Romanian markets has expanded its activities beyond the Central European market.

Investment group Penta

Investment group Penta (“Penta”) is a Central European investment group founded in 1994. Penta specialises in investing primarily to healthcare, retail, financial services and real estate. It is estimated that Penta currently manages assets worth more than EUR 7 billion.

Penta bought Fortuna at the turn of 2004 and 2005. Under its leadership, Fortuna achieved significant growth and subsequently its shares joined the Warsaw and the Prague Stock Exchange. Due to the intense development, the original dividend paying share has transformed to the relatively highly growing one over the time. Given that Penta continues to focus on Fortuna's intense development and wants to achieve this growth as quickly as possible, it has now decided to withdraw Fortuna’s shares from both stock exchanges.
